1、there be not意思：没有
2、there was no意思：没有；无
二、用法不同
1、there be not用法：可以用于一般时态，还可用于完成时态和被动式，此时的be则变成了助动词。
例句：There be not so many girl student in your class as in ours.
译文：你们班的女同学没有我们班多。
2、there was no用法：开头的感叹句加强语气时，谓语动词通常不用现在进行时态，而用一般现在时态，如果主语是名词或名词短语，句子须倒装， 若主语是人称代词，句子不可倒装。
例句：There was no point in staying any longer.
译文：再留下来就没有意义了。
三、侧重点不同
1、there be not侧重点：指客观存在的。
2、there was no侧重点：指抽象的。
