1、population常与定冠词the连用，作主语用时，谓语动词常用“单三”形式
如：The population is increasing at about 2% per year.
人口以每年约2%的速度增长。
2、当主语表达“人口的百分之几/几分之几”时,谓语动词用复数形式。
如：About 70% of the population in China are farmers.
中国大约有百分之七十的人口是农民。
3、表达人口的“多”或“少”，不用“much”或“little”，而要用“large”或“small”。
如：China has a large population, vast territory and abundant resources.
中国人口众多，地大物博
4、询问某国、某地有多少人口时,不用“How much...?”,而用“How large...?”;在问具体人口时用“What...?”。如：
How large is the population of your hometown? 你们家乡有多少人口?
What is the population of China? 中国的人口有多少?
